Beary Fun

I have been having such a blast making my little silly bears! I love learning new techniques and finding the perfect fabric and seeing it all come together. I already have fabric and tulle ordered for my next little sleuth of bears. Did you know that that’s what a group of bears is called? A sleuth! You learn something new every day! So before I spend my week creating more little sweeties, I thought I’d do a show and tell for the ones I made last week. Here they are! Ta-Da! Meet the newest Silly Bears

Meet little miss Winifred, aka “Winny”!

Winny is a silly little bear with big big dreams, one day she wants to be a prima ballerina!!

Dear Prudence is just waiting to dance around her new home!

Prudence is a sensible little bear who loves the Beatles,

dancing about in tutus, and giggling is her most favorite.

Spunky little Kalliope is a silly little bear with a very wild imagination.

She loves to read, snuggle, and absolutely adores all things polka dots, like lady bugs!

I wonder why…. 🙂

Sweet little Iris (which means colorful, or rainbow),

is a silly little bear with a very colorful and bright personality!

Smiling is her favorite, and most days you can find her skipping around picking flowers.

Thanks for visiting my little bear sleuth! I hope you are starting your week with joy and happiness, and that it continues to blossom all week long! I try my best to “plant good seeds” for my week and I hope you do too!

Busy Bee, that’s me!

Finally! A chance to sit and sift through my thoughts! Outsiders looking into my life probably think that working from home is SO easy peasy and that I can just do what I want when I want, this is not the reality! lol I’m not going to lie, it’s cool to not have to call in when I’m sick, because I live where I work, AND it’s even cooler to do your work in your pj’s, but I promise you – it’s not one our of work followed by frolic and super duper fun time recess type activities! I wake up before 6 every day (including weekends) and aside from when I blog or create things, I don’t sit! I wouldn’t change anything though, because I absolutely love my life! Speaking of loving life, I had a fabulous weekend!

My handy hubby and handy father were kind enough to be ladder buddies and spend Saturday and Sunday morning (their only days off, I swear the guys in my life are saints!) fixing my roof! I love those guys 🙂 I fed them well, and asked a million questions, so I guess it balanced out hah! I wanted a picture of them being ladder buddies, so I said “Okay, look at me and look manly, like you’re fixing stuff” My husband literally turned the other way and grumbled, and my dad gave me THIS face. Haha! Gotta love them!

Ladder buddies, using power tools and fixing stuff up! High-five!

Sunday after the roof was done, I spent the rest of the day taking pictures of my new stuff I’ve been working on! It’s been forever since I’ve had anything to list, I’m hopefully going to list all my new goodies today! Here’s a sneak peek!

Coming soon!!

And Sunday night, we closed the weekend hanging out with my entire family to celebrate my mom’s birthday! Here are a few pics from the fun!

I know last week I was a little harsh on you Monday, but I’m glad we’re back to being somewhat civil, mostly because I have to participate in you for the sake of Laundry day. I reluctantly agree to TRY to be friends.

Hope everyone has a super duper extra ultra fan-freaking-tabulous week!

My year so far, in pictures.

Good grief! I just can’t seem to get into a good flow with blogging any more. I’ve been SO busy, which is a fabulous thing, and gives me tons to blog about – but, also means I don’t have time to blog…. funny how that works, huh? So, get ready for 3 months of fun packed into one post and lots and lots of cute animal pictures. 🙂

PIGFEST IN LAKELAND, FLORIDA

So hubby has been on a kick for the last year or so with outdoor cooking, grilling, smoking, you name it. So of course when he heard about Pigfest, he had to go! Pigfest is a HUGE collection of outdoor vendors who smoke, fry, bbq anything that sits still too long around them. There are SO many yummy local restaurants that we want to try after sampling all their goodies. We had fried red velvet moon pies…seriously, why is there such a thing? I have no idea, but I’m glad. It was AMAZING. My diet died a slow painful fried death that day. Fried oreos, pork tacos, beef brisket sandwiches…. good grief was it good! We had such a fun time walking around and sharing food and holding hands. It had been awhile since we had a date night so it was good to laugh and be silly and of course eat delicious meaty offerings. I didn’t take many pictures while we were there, it’s very difficult to stuff food in your face and take photos, but I did get one of a cool old timey ice cream machine. I thought it looked neat!

My hubby and I, of course I got a cool new hat. How would everyone know that I'd gone if I didn't have a hat that told them so!

GIRLS JUST WANNA HAVE FUN!

Usually when Dan goes out of town I’m pretty blue, I like my alone time – don’t get me wrong… but he honestly really and truly is my best friend so when he’s not around things just aren’t as fun. This wasn’t the case his last trip. My awesome sister Jenny who I talk about on here so much came over and spent the night and we had the most fun I’ve had in such a long time! We watched movies, did our nails, hair, gossipped, giggled, and of course… did shenanigans. Most of what we discussed/did really could not be documented because it would shock the masses….but this should give you a decent idea of what was going on those two days/nights. 😉

Olive Oyl turns 1!

I can’t believe that my little sweet Olive is already a year old! I remember seeing her teeter out from under my porch with Clover and falling in love instantly. She is the only cat I’ve ever had that makes facial expressions like she does. She always looks a little bit shocked, or indignant. Which I adore, because that’s basically my two emotional ranges too. Haha! Here is Olive’s before and afters and birthday pic. She is too cute and so precious to me. I love that cat.

Tampa Lowry Park Zoo

I’ve never ever went to a zoo, EVER. Which is horrible and shocking because I have always LOVED animals! My lovely hubby (after much begging and pleading) finally took me to the zoo! I could seriously write you a novel on my mixed emotions and all the childlike feelings I felt about the zoo. I was honestly torn. The child in me was so excited to see all the animals, animals that I have read about and seen pictures of and always wanted to REALLY see…. but the adult in me was a bit sad, if I’m being honest. Some of the animals had a vacant stare or seemed dazed or out of it. I don’t know. I just had a pang of guilt being excited while essentially watch them in prison, but MOST of the animals really seemed to be having fun in their enclosures and had companions with them. I just don’t like to see an animal alone in a cage, even if it’s a big one… it’s still alone, and in a cage. Jeeze, what a debbie downer.  On the other side of the coin, the park does a lot of work with conservation and giving animals that are injured/sick a place to live out their days in quiet comfort. So I guess there are two sides of everything. Sorry, I didn’t mean to ramble or be lost in thought, here are some cute pictures instead!

This was beautiful. I probably stayed here the longest because it was so serene.

Despite staying busy lately with so much fun, I promise I have actually been working hard too!! In fact, I have a new line of scarves that I’ve just recently listed in their own NEW SECTION. I am seriously addicted to making these ruffle scarves, and wearing them!

Here are some of my favorite ruffle scarves, they are actually fabric instead of regular yarn. Pretty neat!

I hope everyone else is having a busy wonderful year too! I’m loving and living it up so far 2014!!! This year is going to be filled with even more great things, I just know it.

What’s new, pussycat?

Good Morning! As you can see, I skipped blogging yesterday, so I’m technically a day late (probably also a dollar short)! I hope everyone had a wonderful Easter weekend! I went over to my in-laws and had a wonderful meal and some time with my precious Nephew – he’s such a little doll! Most of my weekend was devoted to socializing my little kitties I mentioned in last week’s post. Clover’s Kittens are now running amuck in my little work out room (now kitten room) while we clean up, give fresh litter, feed, and snuggle them every 4 hours. I say we, because my husband does “technically” help. I say help loosely 😉 The little darlings are becoming more confident and less fearful of us huge human monsters, which was the idea, and I’m happy all my hard work is paying off and will help them find new homes to be loved. Mommy cat, Clover, was picked up and spayed and is now back to roaming my backyard and the streets. She comes to check in and eat, and I’m sure she’s still missing her babies. I feel bad for her, because I know she loved them and misses them – but I know I did the right thing for all of them, including her. She’ll be happier now and the babies won’t grow up terrified of people and risk being sick or injured by being hobo kitties.

We’ll be taking 4 of the little sweeties to the local SPCA on Friday, which I’m already dreading because I know I’ll cry my eyes out. Sometimes doing the right thing, or the best thing, still hurts like hell. I’m attached to them, and feel like their mom – always thinking and worrying over them. I know they’re going to find great homes though, they’re all sweet and cute as buttons, and due to all my hard work – actually like people and human contact! The one upside to all my babies departing and finding new forever homes is that I’ll get my workout room back, and finally get to set up my new treadmill! I’m so excited and can’t wait to test that bad boy out, the giant box is taking up half my living room and it’s taunting me in the meantime. We’re going to be keeping one of the babies, we’re already slowly introducing her the Jingles (my indoor cat) and Peanut, my old man Chihuahua. We’ve named her/him Oliver or Olive, depending on the sex. I actually googled “How to sex kittens” and found some info (with pictures) about how to tell, but it’s still a mystery to me. All butts look alike to me! Here’s little Oliver/Olive wishing everyone a happy Easter!

Image

What a cutie! I keep going back and forth about which one to keep, mostly because I love them all and want to keep them all. I’m just going to see which one chooses us, and so far that’s Olive. I’m tired, and working overtime to socialize them, which is hard work, but I know it will pay off and they’ll find great homes. Plus, I only have 3 more days with the little darlings, so I’m enjoying the time with them while I can.

Speaking of spending time, Dear Husband is preparing to head off to Miami for a big work project, which means he’ll be gone 40 days. FORTY DAYS! He’ll be trying to come home on weekends, but probably not very often because there’s a lot of work to be done and it’s a 7 hour drive back and forth. :/  I’m going to miss him terribly, and I know my little devil dog will too. Peanut only allows Daddy to do his eye drops for glaucoma without blood, so I’m sure I’ll literally have a lot of blood, sweat and tears during my 40 days. I plan on spending all my time taking care of my now 3 pet household, building up my shop’s inventory and of course working my butt off on my new treadmill! I still have 3 months to meet my goals, so I’m going to be working double time with all my new free time while he’s gone! I think I can, I think I can!

Though this weekend was super busy, I did manage to put a few new goodies in my shop (a couple sold already) so if you have a moment, go check out the new goodies HERE. I also made myself a new bracelet out of some super cool T-shirt yarn I ordered from IdleHandsYarnSupply. I made an extra in blue with a matching necklace scarf, but I’m not sure if I’m going to list them. I love the way they turned out, but I like simple things and I’m not sure they’d appeal to anyone else. I think I always feel that way with my new products, so I’m sure I’m just being shy about it and will end up listing it. Here’s the one I made for myself, what do you think? List the other, or give away as a gift to another minimalistic chick like me?

Hope everyone has a marvelous week – wish the kitties luck in their search for new homes! I’ll update you all next Monday on Olive’s new home life and how the other munchkins take it.

Peace and love and many XO’s,

Lulu
